Nanda Devi Trekking:

ITINERRAY

01 Day:: Arrival Delhi. Upon arrival in Delhi ,meeting and assistance and transfer to hotel .Over night at hotel.

02 Day:: Delhi – Rishikesh by Car:  After breakfast at hotel ,drive to Rishikesh via Haridwar, upon arrival visit Ganga Aarti. over night at hotel.

03 Day:: Rishikesh – Gwaldam – Munsiyari by car(2290 m) : After breakfast at hotel ,drive to Munsiyari ,over  night at hotel.

04 Day:: Munsiyari – Lilam by Trekking (1852 m)-13 km : After breakfast at hotel , proceed for trekking with pack launch. Over night in tent.

05 Day::Lilam – Bogudiyar by trekking (2450m) -12 km : After breakfast ,trek to Bogudiyar with pack launch .Over night at tent.

06 Day:: Bogudiyar – Rilkot by trekking(3200 m)-12 km. :After breakfast ,trek to Rilkot with pack launch. Over night at tent.

07 Day:: Rilkot – Martoli – Lawan  by trekking(3324 m) 10 km . : After breakfast ,trek to Martoli village with pack launch. Over night at tent.

08 Day:: Lawan – Shiama kharak - Nandakot (4450 m)-14 km (base camp & snow ridges of Nanda devi) : After breakfast ,trek to Nandakot (Nanda devi) with pack launch, Over night at tent.

09 Day:: Nandakot : After breakfast ,explore the Nanda Devi .Over night at tent.

10 Day:: Nandakot – Lawan by trekking : After breakfast ,trek to lawan with pack launch. Over night at tent.

11 Day::Lawan – Bogudiyar by trekking. : After breakfast ,trek to lawan with pack launch. Over night at tent.

12 Day:: Bogudiyar – Bhui By trekking  : After breakfast ,trek to lawan with pack launch. Over night at tent.

13 Day :: Bhui – Lilam – Munsiyari –Gwaldam. By car.

14 Day:: Gwaldam – Rudraparayag – Rishikesh by car.

15 Day:: Rishikesh – Delhi by car.

Trekking season in indian himalayas :

Spread over a width of an average 250 kms the weather varies dramatically over different regions. The weather in the subcontinent is almost entirely dependent on the ‘monsoons’, winds blowing from the southwest of India and the adjacent areas bringing heavy rainfall in the continent, typically in the months of June to September.

Summer, mid March to end June, known as the pre-monsoon season is the one of the best time to trek and climb as there are long days of nice, pleasant weather. The snow lines are quite low early on in this season as the winter snow just starts to melt.

Monsoon, early July to Mid September, is when the entire country (except the Trans Himalayas – Lahaul Spiti in Himachal and Ladakh) is drenched with rain water and covered with thick envelope of clouds. Perfect time to be in the TransHimalayan land as it wakes up after a long cold winter.

Autumn, the post- monsoon season starts by late September and carries on till end November. Since everything is washed out in the monsoons and it is relatively cooler this period offers clear views of the mountain ranges.

Winter is quite severe all across the Himalayas, especially in the higher reaches. It generally arrives by early December and continues till mid March. Good time to be in the Lesser Himalayas to get the starkling clear distant views

Kuaripass North Face Trek known as "The Shipton Tilman Route" as well Nandadevi Trekking

In 1905, Lord Curzon reached Kuari Pass (3640m). Kuaripass means "door way".He made the trek, and since then it is also known as the Curzon trail. The main attraction of it is the imposing view of the eastern peaks of Garhwal Himalayas,the twin peaks of Nanda Devi, Kamet, Dronagiri, Trishul, Bertholi,Hathi Ghodi Parvat, Mana, and Neelkanth peaks. The trek passes through Pristine Rhododendron, oak and deodar forest. Rarely Himalayan flora and fauna are found as plenty as on this trail.
The Kuari (virgin) Pass treks is a highly varied & scenic trek which passes through three lesser Passes & five major rivers - the Pindar, Kaliganga, Nandakini , Birehiganga & Dhauliganga.The pass or "KHAL" is approached from the ancient trek (Goat Track) route to Joshimath, Badrinath along the pilgrims route. This trek can be undertaken from Auli or from Debal or Ghat near Nandaprayag.

Pangarchulla becomes a beautiful climbing objective in the spring after having accumulated all the winter snow. An easy low peak which gives a good feel of a climb-plodding the crisp morning snow with amazing views of high mountains. This trip offers enough challenge and loads of photo opportunity. Day 1 : Delhi to Rishikesh (330m) 5-6 hrs
Board the morning Shatabdi Express departing New Delhi at 7am. Reach Hardwar at 11:30 am. Transfer to the hotel / camp in Rishikesh, a bustling pilgrim township, a popular meditation centre and the Yoga Capital of the world. Evening explore the township and attend the aarti (evening prayers) by the banks of the river Ganga. Overnight hotel.

Day 2 : Drive Rishikesh to Joshimath (1560m) 8-9 hrs
The drive takes one into the rugged country of the Garhwal along the Alaknanda river. Going past a few holy confluences and the road keeps ascending to the small township of Joshimath, which is the base for the Indian Army and the Indian Tibet Border police for this area.

Day 3 : Joshimath - Tali (3310m) 5-6 hrs
Take the cable car up to the ski slopes of Auli (2750m). From Auli one gets to see a distinct profile of Nanda Devi at the head of the sanctuary. The walk takes one through the forests of oak and rhododendron to reach meadows of Gorson. From here the trail descends steepily down to the forest and we camp by a small water body at Tali. Overnight Camp.

Day 4 : Tali to Khulara (3395m) via the Kuari Pass 5-6 hrs
Today the trail ascends the ridge above Tali and cairns marks our track. Just below the pass, the trail leads through a large meadow affording spectacular views of the Himalayas. North of Joshimath is the Chaukhamba range, Nilkanth (6596m) and Narayan Parbat (5965m), while Mana peak (7272m),Kamet (7756m) and Abi Gamin (7355m) extend to the Tibetan border. In the middle foreground, the main Himalayan chain in the vicinity of the Bhyundar valley and Hem Kund includes Nilgiri Parbat (6474m), Rataban (6166m), Ghori Parbat (6708m) and Hathi Parbat (6727m). Dunagairi (7066m) dominates the peaks to the north of the Nanda Devi Sanctuary. The Kuari pass (3840m) is by no means demanding – we have our lunch here and then descent an hour to the base camp at Khulara.

Day 5 : Khulara Base Camp – Advanced Base Camp (4000m) 3-4 hrs
Have an easy start. After breakfast getready in your climbing gear and start plodding up towards the high camp. Most of the walk goes on a moderate gradient on the snow covered North face of the mountain slopes with great views of the high mountains on the. A short traverse will bring us to the advanced base camp.

Day 6 : Advanced Base Camp to Summit and back to Khulara Base Camp 3-4 hrs
Wake up early to be up on the summit to see the sunrise on wide Himalayan panorama. Loads of photo opportunity ! The walk up to the summit would take a couple of hours and we descend to be in time for hot lunch at bae camp. Evening party !!!

Day 7 : Khulara – Tapovan (1905m) 4-5 hrs and drive to Pipalkoti (1330m)
The last day of the climb is all the way down to the Tapovan. It’s about 3 hours drive from here to the comforts of the hotel in Pipalkoti.

Day 8 : Pipalkoti – Delhi
After an early morning breakfast set out for the long 8 hr drive to reach Hardwar in the evening to board the evening Shatabdi Express leaving at 6:10 pm to be back in Delhi by 10:30 pm. Trip ends !
